The Credit Union Cherry Blossom is Washington, DC’s oldest major road race and has been the region’s most popular springtime running event since 1973. It takes place the first weekend in April, on a scenic course in the shadows of the Nation’s most famous monuments, near the National Mall during the world renowned National Cherry Blossom Festival.

    The Health and Fitness Expo takes place on Friday and Saturday before the race at the National Building Museum. It includes vendors, exhibitors and running related educational clinics.  Over 40,000 runners and guests attend.

    Our most photogenic event, the Kids Run is held Saturday morning before race day on the grounds of the National Building Museum in conjunction to the opening of the Health and Fitness Expo during the Health and Fitness Expo.after the 5k race and follows the course down Pennsylvania Ave returning to Freedom Plaza for refreshments.

    The Ambassador program is a unique program created by Cherry Blossom Inc to maximize the Social Media presence of the race. Through a nationwide application process 4 ambassadors are selected each year from a submitted pool of almost 100 to join our Social Media Team utilizing their influence to spread the word of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Event.

    Team building benefit sponsors receive both free and guaranteed entries into the sold-out event. These entries can be used for employees or key customers saving them the uncertainty of the lottery before it is held, or gaining them entry into the closed out race after the lottery is over.

Race Breakdown

• 22,608 people ran in the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile or 5K (16,755 and 5853 respectively) on April 1 and 2, 2023 and 33% traveled at least 50+ miles to participate in the DC area.

Who Runs With us

In the next 12 months, 16% of participants plan to purchase a home; 26% plan to purchase a car. Ninety-one percent of participants have attended college or have some advanced degree or education. Seventy-three percent of runners and spectators spend one or more nights in DC, with 66.7% of visitors staying in hotels or motels. The total gross impact of the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run on the Washington, DC Metro Region economy equals over $4 million for race weekend.
